Of all the places in Brooklyn one keeps on proving its place as a true New York landmark. Dumbo, a industrial style community keeps on banging out original events. I know fairs are American pass time but leave it to Dumbo to have relics from the 1940 whose appearance is fresh out of the box. Winter Antiques Pop Up Market Dumbo is a colection of artists and collectors showcasing passion. I bought these funky glasses which i am gonna pop out and make sunglasses. I also got a hot hoodie and cup of great liquid chocolate. This fair is just full of designer jewelry, clothing, plants and nick knacks. I even found a booth that had toys that are in original boxes from the 20s  period. After your done with this fabulous show don’t run away, Bubys down the road has a great menu and the water taxi takes you right into the financial district. The ride is beautiful and the wait at the dock gives you a view of the entire city. All in all the dumbo fair is only there for a few more weeks and would be foolish for anyone to miss.

The brand new video for My Girls from ANIMAL COLLECTIVE has been spreading like wildfire across music blogs around the world.  I think the special effects are awesome, definitely something to watch when you are looking to daze and dream.   Everyone is talking about their latest effort, Merriweather Post Pavillion.  I’m still getting into it, with every listen I hear something I had not heard before! Headphones material for sure!

The Jukebox Churns Out Songs About Sex

It may have been record freezing cold temperatures in New York City last night, but it could not get cooler inside Webster Hall where Danish group THE RAVEONETTES headlined.

Guitarist/vocalist Sune Rose Wagner and his cohort, the striking Sharin Foo (also on guitars/vocals), brilliantly served their sound to a hungry audience. That sound being the trashy love child of early American rock and roll and distorted post-punk -- plenty of feedback please.

Unlike previous U.S. tours which took a much more minimalist approach, with Sune and Sharin taking turns on guitars and drums, on this go they brought a four piece band on the road to strengthen their towering wall of sound.

The set tended to focus on their latest release, last year’s Lust Lust Lust. However, the band did touch upon tracks from earlier albums such as 2002’s EP Whip It On and 2005’s homage to classic rock and pop from decades past, Pretty in Black. Highlights from the night included the girl group style of “Dead Sound” and “Love in a Trashcan” to the toe-tapping electro rock of  “Twilight.” They ended the night with an encore of the oh-so-sexy “Aly, Walk With Me”.

You can catch the band tonight in Washington D,C, at the Black Cat. They end their short tour later this month on the West Coast in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
