Cold Cave – new video, MP3, updated 2010 tour dates

Cold Cave does things to me if vocalized would put me in the adult section of Blog Catalog. Cold Cave is a group based out of New York, delivering a synth rideĀ  you wont easily forget. Life Magazine’s new video is reminiscent of early 80s horror film, love the expression, the tales, the journey, and the vocals will send joyful jitters all over your body.

The video focuses around the Marti Domination being creepy walking around doing her thing, she reminds me of Satan from the Passion Of The Christ just a bit more plumb than the skeleton in Passion. Enough of description enjoy the video for Cold Cave’s Life Magazine.

LISA GERRARD, Ancient Music, and Today

The end of Gladiator when Maximus is barley keeping his composure he says; “There is a dream that is Rome it shall be realized. “ From the moment you hear the beautiful voice of Lisa Gerrard, to me Lisa Gerard is a the only singer that manged to completely mesh music from the past with today.

Lisa Gerrard – The Host Of Seraphim

Plenty of artist try and fuse various parts of their music with the old sounds. To truly realize the difference you have to actually look at the old sound and what gave music its beginnings. The Vedas a collection of text from Ancient India is one of the oldest forms of music, a form of prayer and singing more a ode to their beliefs, no matter what their actual belief was at the time they sang in worship. One might stipulate from this, music originates from a ode to celebration, to celebrate what it is that makes you obsess It is simple for us to choose a obsession to focus our lives on, some of us have careers, some of us have family, some of us have religion, some of us have suffering and hardship, but to allĀ  we exist from the obsession of these modes. Its all fine and dandy but in the form of our oldest musical tradition we should celebrate our obsessions with music.

The only predating existence of music known to us is found in Jiahu, China. This excavation site is over 9000 year old, some musical instruments were successfully recovered from the site. Studies have shown apparent Neolithic attributes meaning from the end of the Stone Age. It is funny to know that the Neolithic era is the end of one existence and into another form of existence, prior to the Neolithic era various species of Homo-sapiens existed on this planet towards the end of the Stone Age a new reality emerges, in this time we find the first evidence of music. At the time when man-kind becomes one species he creates musical instruments, at least to our knowledge. I don’t doubt that music existed prior, in fact I think the first vocal verbalization in our lovely plant was meant as a song. whatever it may be everything sings, we see a chair squeaking when it has uneven pressure placed on it, we hear music when the rooster decides the part of the day is the beginning of the next, we sing when we cry in happiness, we sing we laugh from glee and everything sang and will sing, it is our way of expressing our feeling of the moment.

I do not believe the root of music is a ode to our obsessive devices, yet music is a symbol of the moment it is our current expressive feeling. This feeling motivates many musicians to show the true feeling of the moment whether it be any topic that comes to mind. Most pop singers sing about the moment, the moment in their mind is quite empty and simple appealing the masses t. It work with every genre, singers appeal to a mass that lives in the moment. I feel that Lisa Gerrard embodies a feeling in her music, the feeling is a strong emotion one where the moment is intense. The moments of old sound is one of strong self expression, the only sound you ever made in the old days were necessary, if not it was difficult to say if one could survive.
