Blooming Flower Tea
I’m always brewing all kinds of tea from loose to the good ‘ol generic bag with the string. About a year ago I came across a little dried up flower ball that claimed to me it was going to bloom under hot water and brew a perfect cup of tea.
You can only imagine my curiosity was certainly piqued. Check out the video below of a flower blooming before our eyes. A little scary and wondrous at the same time, kind of reminds me of a sea urchin as its growing. You can get all kinds by searching ‘blooming tea’ online. Get some easily here.
CHILLI TAKEDOWN this Sunday in Williamsburg!
You’ve got to love Williamsburg! Only Williamsburg can take a middle town American slap on American Apparel/Urban Outfitters gear and make them hip! You can dress them but you cant stop them from bringing the south out in our beloved city. Union Pool in Brooklyn New York will be hosting the CHILI TAKEDOWN this Sunday judged by Williamsburg is Dead, Kieth Wagstaff and Time Out New York’s, Gabriella Gershenson. It will be fun to participate in this event, see you there!
Valentine’s Week on 5th Avenue in Park Slope
One of my favorite spots in New York City is Park Slope. For this years Valentines Day, forget commercial Manhattan and go to charming 5th Ave. in Park Slope and experience a street free of commercialization. Fifth avenue bars, cafes and restaurant’s are holding specials during the week of Valentines Day. I’ve put together a short list of must stop places for you and your loved ones!
If you are in the mood for great Tex-Mex, stop by LOBO for their romantically texan decor and great drinks. Nothing spells romance like Italian and French dining. ALTA VOCE is a charming Italian restaurant with many secluded spots where you can interlock feet with your lover. Down the block, you’ll find French cuisine at CANAILLE. If your guest enjoys grandmas home cooking touch. Aunt Suzie’s is a all time favorite of mine.
Fifth avenue in Park Slope is littered with gift shops and cafes. Enjoy your dinner, but don’t run to the subway right after! Yeah, I know…it’s freezing! I guarantee the slope will be romantic and memorable for you and your Valentine.

One Super Bowl Of Bleu Cheese With My Buffalo Wings Please
There is absolutely one sports game that I will not miss every year and that’s the “How Many Buffalo Wings Can I Eat Before Getting Full On Beer Bowl.” Oh, and it happens to coincide with The Super Bowl every year – weird, right?
This year, while you are watching the red team score a down on the green team, or chatting through the talking frog/ beer/ hot chick with a huge rack commercial, I hope you are also be doing some very important snacking. As important as the commercials, the food is a major facet to this American tradition.
If you are planning on having a party, we have made your life much easier by trolling the web and gathering the best Super Bowl-afied recipes for you. Do your guests a favor and feed them well. And do us a favor, and let us know how it goes.
Suggested menu as follows:
Supertastic Guacamoli via Alton Brown, by way of blogger.
So few people do these right, but when it is done right, Buffalo Wings are the honored guest at every party. Check out the traditional recipe here. And don’t get lost in no “ranch dressing,” bleu all the way, baby.
Taco Dip is the jam. Feel free to use all fresh ingredients, but here is the basic premise.
Check this recipe for skewered Tequila Lime Shrimp - note that you can always use a grill pan when making this.
Enjoy!
