LOBO: Texas Style Dining in Park Slope
LOBO
118 5th Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11217
I wouldn’t call Park Slope’s LOBO a Mexican restaurant; it’s 100% pure American. I can guarantee, that on the Texas-Mexican border there are many legendary Mexican cuisine eateries that are owned by pure bred Texans. At Lobo, a frozen margarita is not a cheap tequila mix…it’s a bang for your buck with interesting flavors and an intoxicating dose of quality alcohol mixed in.
From the moment you walk in the staff is just amazing. You are greeted at the door by a friendly waiter who chats with you (trust me it is not those annoying ones that don’t shut up) and takes your order. They bring you everything you ask for on the spot. The food is good even though I have definitely had tastier Mexican.
The decor is very authentic, in fact, the tables were made from one full length tree bark. If you’re in the mood, ask them to rearrange them so you can see the grains run in one direction!
I personally love the prize animal skins decor, I wouldn’t be surprised if the owner, Sean Patterson, shot them down for an evening meal. All in all if you want to enjoy intersting mexican cuisine done to a Texan specification with an amazing ambience…Lobo is your place.
