JACK THE HORSE: Tavern in Historic Brooklyn Heights

Picture it. A chilly Sunday morning…you’ve woken up all groggy and hung-over from a night at your favorite swanky spot. Worst part is…your stomach is rumbling and wants to EAT!  Don’t sweat it, head on over to Jack The Horse Tavern in the beautiful neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights.

The location of the Tavern is reminiscent of being tucked away in a small space in New England. The food is downright scrumptious and the ambiance is reminiscent of an era long gone. In a day when everyone is trying to take food and reinvent it, Chef Tim Oltmans has taken all American cooking with an added kick and elevated it to a high level of quality. Tim is from Minnesota, by Lake Jack the Horse, which is how he named his restaurant.

Keeping tradition in the family, you will even find Tim’s niece stirring a mimosa, with the real stuff, not watered down orange concentrate. All in all this is a great place to catch an awesome burger or an interesting combination of eggs. I would definitely recommend the English muffins and no, they are not Thompson’s.

In the name of The Rabbit, I declare this eatery a great place for brunch!  You can view the full history of the tavern here.  Take a visit and let us know what you think!
